Many are fooled in the west to think that Christianity teaches to ignore evil and do nothing about it.
Because none of them read.
Too uneducated to form a collective conscience.
And that is why you don't innately know when it's time to move.
As a people, you're not one whole.
The purity of Jesus' teachings are tainted since Paul, but a larger component is secured in orthodoxy today.
> I’m sensing an interesting fracture about to occur in the Christian realm. It will be reduced to a smaller group of Crusaders. Paradoxically, it will become stronger by strong prophets pointing out its main weakness: weakness!
The fracture has already happened. With the elite echelons of the Catholic wing representing fallen Rome, only its surface is Christian, the rest is subverted completely.
> Jesus literally says it "But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also."
You don't understand what turning the other cheek means/serves.
It is not an act of submission.
It is an act of defiance, daring evil to show its face.
You're not ready yet to understand scripture.
>Dude posts the opposite of what Jesus explicitly said
>Reply with gospel quote which contradicts them
>YuO DoN't UnDerSTanD!!! Jesus actually meant the opposite of what he explicitly said! Every time
In the cultural context of first-century Judea under Roman occupation, a slap on the right cheek referred to a backhanded strike with the right hand - an insulting gesture from a superior to an inferior.
Turning the other cheek (exposing the left) would force the aggressor to use a forehand punch if they continued, symbolically elevating the victim to equal status.
Don't be angry because you don't understand but rather work to educate yourself.
You're not looking for truth, you're just looking to be proven right.
I don't even know why I entertain these conversations. Perhaps I hold a naive hope that some of these cynics will eventually find a piece of truth from my ramblings.
But you won't understand the wisdom and sanctity of the act if you don't understand that the life of a Christ is a symbol - it's an exemplary metaphor of how an enlightened soul acts - one that has achieved the ultimate truth that he and others are inseparable and of the same source.
It takes true spiritual wisdom and initiation to understand the act - for a cynic and a survivalist, it's an unfathomable concept.
From the perspective of Christened consciousness - the one being hit and the one doing the hitting are one and the same.
If your left hand punched your right hand - would you have a desire to punch your left hand with the right in revenge?
Consider it, don't make me waste my words in vain. Lol.
> Then there is no evil to resist and your original post complaining about Christians ignoring evil according to Jesus' literal explicit teachings was pointless?
The idea is that evil stems from blindness.
An exemplary act is done to make one aware of their blindness.
In the case of Christ, his whole life is an exemplary act - and this act has made many aware of the evil within themselves, therefore destroying it.
Over many lifetimes.
For the average Christian, passivity in the face of evil is a misdeed - because he does not possess Christed consciousness.
If he refused to neutralize evil - he is committing a misdeed against himself and God.
> Sure evil stems from ignorance, Socrates speaks of this and in much clearer terms than anything Jesus supposedly said. However, just being aware of evil does not destroy it.
Yes, my friend. It's not about you becoming aware of evil, it's about the evildoer becoming aware of itself.
> If people turned the other cheek to Epstein would he become aware of his evil (as if he isn't) and stop sinning?
Again, you don't understand what turning the other cheek means/serves.
It is not an act of submission.
It is an act of defiance, daring evil to show its face.
