I think most people don't understand that wrongdoing is not some special skill but rather an universally accessible framework for living.
For anyone.
Right now, most (if not all) of my willpower goes into service.
Meaning - for others.
This is not an obligation but a choice.
I could just as easily, at any given moment, redirect that incredible energy, at will, towards selfish and self-serving acts and deeds.
And so could you.
We wouldn't, obviously, but just saying for the sake of example.
If you are intelligent enough, criminal-minded enough, strategic and calculative in your thinking AND have no moral barriers - becoming rich, influential, connected, powerful, feared, etcetera through selfish means is basically your natural state.
It's not some rare commodity.
Everyone is both capable and creative in evil.
Every single person, even the meekest and most fragile.
The lesson in spiritual advancement then is not to renounce your dark potential but to know it for the destructive path that it is - and to willingly contain and integrate it.
Those with the most spiritual awareness and conscience are equally as capable in the opposite, and it is exactly this knowing that enables them to renounce the gifts of their darkness in the first place.
There's a bodysnatcher in all of us - is what I'm trying to say.
It is only a matter of where the will is exerted.
And with great will, comes great temptation.
The more spiritually inclined one becomes, the more they understand how truly morbid they could be if they really actually wanted to.
It's not some special skill - it is a conscious choice any person can make, at any given moment.
If they wield the willpower required.
It is the simplest switch.
Like the trained fighter who avoids combat at all costs because he knows the potential of his violence and the tragic results it can bring - both to others and to himself.
The irredeemable criminal and the man of God live under the same one paradigm - in total fearlessness of life.
When you meet an intelligent and hyper-capable person humbling and bettering themselves through good works, it is worth knowing that, more than likely, there is a monster sitting just on the opposite end of their smile.
One with equal capacity and will.
Thankfully, the best of us often simply know that they have absolutely nothing to prove to anyone other than themselves.
> Would you say for a person aware of the Truth, it become almost impossible to choose this dark path though, as great inner suffering would hold them back?
It's very possible, I'd say. If the conscience is submerged WILLINGLY.
"I know and I don't care" is perhaps the darkest sentiment one could hold.
I don't know if that's even a point one could come back from without a great deal of damage to the soul.
