Moral complexity exists only in the realms of man.
In the realms beyond it - man is "envesseled" ('made a vessel to') by either the conscionable spirit of God or by the spirit-stuff from the demoniac spheres.
There is no middle ground, no distinction.
Energetically speaking, in the sense of 'what man is consumed by' - man has no free will of his own.
There is only one master, at any one time, but said master is not revealed until the breaking of the vessel.
Regardless of its outward appearance, only the seed that rests within the vessel can be made to sprout from its remains.
The sacred temple of the human heart is where this seed is held, the process of living, of human alchemization then, is a direct influence on its nature.
Some born corrupt can be made pure.
Some born pure can be corrupted.
But the vessel, at any one time, can only act upon the sway of one or the other.
In the realm of energy, there is no distinction, no grey zone, no moral complexity.
In the end, a man serves either himself, making an idol of himself, or he serves that which is greater than himself.
