Imagine you go to an open zoo, every animal is caged behind one-sided glass. You can see everything they do but they can't see you.
They don't even know you exist. They are fascinating creatures but, compared to you, simple-minded. You're like a god to them.
They suffer greatly, tear each other apart, and die in the most brutal ways imaginable. Survival is the name of their existence.
Their past, present and future are exquisitely deterministic and comfortably predictable. Their lives unfold in cyclical variations with very similar results.
But then, suddenly, one of the animals, as if they somehow knew, stares back into the glass and straight into your soul. You lock eyes with them and, for a moment - connect with their essence.
You realize that they have become aware of something they never should have. They have no proof of the world beyond the glass. They have no idea that you exist.
Yet somehow, regardless of the setup, they know of your realness, and of the invisible world you inhabit - like a glitch in the machine.
That human animal is you, and you are beholden to the fascination and admiration of both demons and angels the moment you acquire this knowing - the secret awareness of the unseen.
And, through it, you become the means through which the influence and knowing of greater forces and principalities may enter into this habitat, into the enclosure of the zoo.
Without ever breaking the glass.
The moment you lock eyes with that which you are not supposed to know, with something whose existence you have no proof of - the dynamic between you shifts, both for you and them.
The questioner becomes the question.
The observer becomes the observed.
Which side of the glass is the zoo?
Who is staring at who?
And since both sides are governed by the same laws, by the same universal principles and intellectual design - becoming aware of these cosmic truths allows one to transcend any enclosure.
That is how a mystic is born, and a mystic stands on equal grounds - on both sides of the fence.
